Few Times Other Film Industries Remade Bollywood Movies (Part II)

Continuing from the first part of the story, here are a few more remakes of Bollywood movies in other languages.

Annamalai from Khugarz

Annamalai is a Tamil movie starring Rajnikanth and SarathBabu and it was a remake of the Bollywood movie Khudgarz directed by Rakesh Roshan.

Khudgarz was the first movie by Rakesh Roshan as a director and it featured Jeetendra and Shatrughan Sinha in main roles along with Govinda, Neelam, Bhanupriya, and Amrita Singh in important roles. Khudgarz was later remade in Tamil as Annamalai and starred Rajinikanth and SarathBabu. Khudgarz was later remade in Telegu also as PranaSnehitulu.

Gabbar Singh from Dabanng 

Dabanng features Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. It was remade in Telegu as Gabbar Singh and the movie starred Telegu superstar PawanKalyan

Salman Khan starrerDabanng was one of the biggest hits of the last decade and the character of Chubul Pandey (Salman Khanna) became quite a rage among people. To milk the popularity of Dabanng, it was remade in Telegu. PawanKalyan and ShrutiHaasan were the main leads in the Telegu remake titled Gabbar Singh. The treatment and story of Gabbar Singh was slightly changed to match the sensibilities of Telegu movie audiences.

Samrat

Samrat was a 1997 thriller movie featuring Ramki, Vineetha, and Rukma in her first movie role. Directed by debutant Sakthi Chidambaram, it was a remake of Shahrukh Khan starrer “Baazigar”.

Baazigar was released in 1993 and it was a revenge thriller drama starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles. It also featured Shilpa Shetty in her Bollywood debut along with Rakhi, DilipTahil, and Jhony Lever. The movie was quite a big hit and made Shahrukh Khan a star for which he even won the Filmfare Best Actor Award. Baazigar was remade into Samrat in Tamil and featured Ramki, Vineetha, and Rukma.

NerkondaPaarvai from Pink

NerkondPaarvai is a Tamil movie starring Tamil superstar Ajith and it’s a remake of the Bollywood movie Pink.

Pink was a very important movie that tells us about the discrimination faced by women in our Indian society. It was remade in Tamil as NerkodaPaarvai and featured Ajith in the role played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original.NerkodaPaarvai is one of the most powerful movies that came out of the Tamil film industry in the last couple of years and the movie was both a critical and commercial success.
