FIFA World Cup's Eight Stadiums

A few days ago, the governing body of the FIFA World Cup finalised the stadiums where the tournament games will be played next year

As we are thoroughly informed, the peninsular Arab country of Qatar has been privileged to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 edition. Since Qatar is not a leading football-playing nation, fans around the world do not know what to predict from the country in terms of infrastructure, playing conditions and more. However, a glimpse of what is lingering in Qatar has been recently distributed by the governing body of FIFA. The body has elected the final eight stadiums where the matches will be played. In this feature, we have composed a round-up of those eight stadiums.

Lusail Iconic Stadium- In the city of Lusail, the stadium will host five group matches, one round of 16 match, one quarter-final and one semi-final match. Not to forget, this stadium is also expected to host the ultimate game.

Al Khor- If you look at it from an aeroplane, you will find the Al Khor stadium is designed like a giant white tent. Opened in 2020, the Al Khor can host 60,000 spectators. Five group matches, one round of 16 match, one quarter-final and one semi-final match will be played here.

Al Wakrah- When compared to the other stadiums, Al Wakrah is a smaller and older stadium that was inaugurated in 2019. With a seating capacity of 40,000, the Al Wakrah stadium will host five group matches and one round of 16 match.

Al Rayyan- 20 kilometres from Central Doha at the edge of a desert is the stadium of Al Rayyan. Still, under construction, Al Rayyan will welcome 40,000 spectators in five group matches, one round of 16 match and one quarter-final. Not to forget, it also has a grand mall.

Khalifa International- Opened in 1976, Khalifa International is one of the oldest stadiums in the country with 40,000 seating capacity. Five group matches, one round of 16 match and the match for third place will be played here.

Education City- Looks like a diamond, the Education City Stadium will welcome 40,000 audiences for five group matches, one round of 16 match and one quarter-final match.

Ras Abu Aboud- The stadium is still under construction and will open its door to 40,000 spectators in 2022. In the tournament, it will host five group matches and one round of 16 match.

Al Thumama Stadium- Last but not least, the Al Thumama Stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000. Next year, it will host five group matches, one round of 16 match and one quarter-final match.
