The hotspots for movie-making

Movie-making all over the globe is becoming mature and well-structured day after day. It’s not only about the direction and the acting, not only about the script and the music but also about the art, the screenplay, the editing and certainly about the ‘effects’!

To be more specific, nowadays, to make a movie successful at the box office, one needs to put all the perfection at the highest level that needs a compact and equipped setup. The concept of film cities lies here.

However very common in the West, the film cities are now enjoying a special level of demand in India, as the Indian movie-making is growing not only from artistic perspectives but also in technique, style and effects. Techniques like VFX have now become a common feature of high budget Indian movies and web series.

There are five film cities in India, accounted as the top-level film cities all over the globe.

Ramoji Film City

Ramoji, the world's biggest film city, as recognised by the World Guinness Book, is situated in Hyderabad, in the southern province of Telangana. Built-in 1996, the city has a spread of 1666 acres, keeping a mark of an average of around 1.5 million people every year. The film sets, varying from jungle to railway station and from hospital to battleground attract millions. Being composed of two hotels, there are several amusement parks and many rides to put you in the dreamy world of excitement.

Mumbai Film City

The second-largest film city in the nation, namely DadasahebPhalkeChitraNagari, is residing in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra. Founded in 1977, with the name ‘Mumbai Film City’ as a government-funded studio complex for providing support, concessions and aid for the movies, it has a land spread of more than 520 acres, with a fantastic arrangement of 42 outdoor locations. There are more than 16 studios in the complex. The Mumbai Film City has been the shooting spot for the maximum number of Bollywood movies since the late seventies.

Innovative Film City

At thirty kilometers of distance from Bangalore, the Innovative Film City is spread over around 50 acres of land on the outskirts of the city. Different types of shooting locations, varying from mirror maze to aqua kingdom, from mini-golf to haunted Havelis and from carton city to Dino Park.

Besides that, there is MGR film city in Chennai, established in 1994, with a wide range of sets for shooting films indoors. MGR Films & Television Institute is established inside this campus. The Noida Film City was founded in 1988 that is mostly television serials and shows.
