Films a Kate Winslet fan should not miss

British actress Kate Elizabeth Winslet popularly known as Rose from the film Titanic is an actor par excellence. Having made her screen debut at the age of 15 in the British television series Dark Season, Winslet is the youngest actress to be counted among the top rated best actresses in the Hollywood industry. However, her film debut was as a teenage murderess in Heavenly Creatures, but it was playing Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility that won her a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. And at the age of only 20 years, she became one of the youngest recipients of the awards. Since then there has been no looking back for the actress who has come to be best known for her work in independent films, particularly period dramas, and often as the angst-ridden women. From Academy Award to three British Academy Film Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award, Winslet has many accolades to her. Hamlet

This 1996 film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet is the first unabridged theatrical film version of Hamlet but with a setting in the 19th century. Adapted and directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also stars as Prince Hamlet, features Kate Winslet as Ophelia, besides Derek Jacobi as King Claudius and Julie Christie, as Queen Gertrude. A rising start then, Winslet once again showed her incredible acting skills portraying a volcano of emotions.

Sense and Sensibility This 1995 period drama films based on author Jane Austen's 1811 novel of the same name directed by Ang Lee. Emma Thompson who wrote the screenplay, also stars in the film as Elinor Dashwood, while Kate Winslet plays Elinor's younger sister Marianne. The story revolves around the Dashwood sisters and their struggle with the circumstances of sudden destitution and how they are forced to seek financial security through marriage. Winslet effortlessly embodies her character’s romantic idealism and confusion, which won her the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Revolutionary Road This 2008 romantic drama film by Sam Mendes is adapted from the 1961 novel of the same name by Richard Yates. After the successful pairing in Titanic, the film once again brings together Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the lead role, along with Kathy Bates in supporting roles. The film revolves around Frank, played by DiCaprio and April Wheeler, played by Winslet, a mid-1950s couple who are struggling to cope with their personal problems and the breakdown in their marriage.

Few other of her films are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Holiday among others.
