Five Hollywood movies that are hugely inspired by Bollywood movies

So, you thought that it was only Bollywood that was “inspired” by Hollywood?

Bollywood movies are type-casted for not being original and often copying Hollywood movies. But what if we told you that sometimes the tables do turn and Hollywood too got their inspiration from Hindi films. Here are some of the Hollywood movies that were “inspired” by the Bollywood blockbusters.

  1. Darr (1993) and Fear (1996)
Darr turned to be not only a significant milestone in Shahrukh Khan’s career but also inspired Hollywood movie “Fear”. So much so, even the title of the film is the literal translation. Even though there is some difference in the script here and there, but you could see the similarities like the tattooing of the female lead name on the chest with a knife.
  1. Jab We Met (2007) and Leap year (2010)
Even though the makers deny it but Leap year has an uncanny resemblance to the Jab We Met. Leap year narrates the journey of a young woman who wants to propose to her boyfriend and meets a guy who helps her in her journey, which is a nothing short of an adventure. Sounds familiar?
  1. Choti Si Baat (1976) and Hitch (2005)
Everybody keeps talking about how Salman Khan and Govinda starring “Partner” is a rip off of Hitch. It turns out that Hitch is, in turn, the rip off of Basu Chatterjee’s classic “Choti Si Baat”, a story of a shy man taking the help of a “love coach” to woo the girl of his dreams.
  1. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005) and Just Go with It (2011)
The plots of both movies are so similar that you could not help but wonder. A commitment-phobic plastic surgeon takes the help of his assistant for his romantic liaisons. So, basically, Adam Sandler plays Salman Khan, and Jennifer Aniston plays Sushmita Sen. So, original Hollywood!
  1. A Wednesday (2008) and A Common Man (2013)
Well, we cannot call it an inspired or copied plot, A Common Man was the official remake of the cult classic A Wednesday. With a bit brushing of the original story, the movie won many accolades in Madrid Film festival, New York Festival’s international television and film awards.

After all the times, we slaughtered Hollywood classics by cleverly copying it, turns out they were doing the same as well!
