Five places in India where you can witness snow fall that are not in North

The Himalayan hamlets in Eastern part of India have transformed into exotic snow destinations that have never been over populated with visitors

Northern India gets the highest snowfall in the country attracting huge footfall in between November and February. However, overcrowding also means traffic jam, high hotel prices and too much of noise on a vacation. Instead head to the East. Barring a few places, the Himalayan hamlets in Eastern part of India have transformed into exotic snow destinations that are never over populated with visitors and offer a pleasant stay in the lap of nature while grazing through snow.

Darjeeling

One of the most favourite tourist destinations of Bengal, Darjeeling also called the Queen of Hills turns all white with hamlets all around glowing with the hail early morning. Best chance for experiencing snow here is December end to February end when the Mall road and Chowrasta gets covered in snow. This does not happen every year though.

Sandakphu

The highest peak of West Bengal welcomes you for a miniature trek and your reward is stunning scapes of snowfall during the months of December and January, and views of the Mount Everest, Mount Kanchenjunga in the summer months. The remarkable trekking experience where you can hike through snow can be taken by people of any age group

Lava-Lolegaon

You can easily trek to these places from Darjeeling. The snowy valleys and the distant hills will make your every moment fascinating. The sky is crisp and clear during these months and hence this the best time to view the snow-clad peaks of the mighty Himalayan Range.

Tawang

Situated in the extreme northwest corner of Arunachal Pradesh, Tawang a beautiful getaway for travellers looking for something out of the ordinary. Best time to visit Tawang for snowfall is during winters. The temperature ranges from -13C to 10 C. Sela Pass, Tawang Monastery, Taktsang Gompa, Gorichen Peak, Shonga-tser Lake, Nuranang Waterfalls, Bumla Pass are some of the beautiful destinations to explore Tawang.

North Sikkim

Some of the areas like Yumthangis known for experiencing snow almost all year round but is sometimes shut down due to heavy snow so. Best time to visit North Sikkim is for snowfall - Tsomgo Lake, Nathula, Yumthang are some of the places where you can find snow for almost the entire year. For most other areas in North Sikkim winter months from October to December would be good to experience snowfall. Gurudonmar lake is another picturesque location located at an altitude of 17,800 ft. Zuluk, a quaint village is East Sikkim is another sublime place to enjoy snowfall.
