Five Unconventional Actors from Bollywood We Absolutely Love (Part II)

It’s a continuation of the previous story where we discussed about actors who despite their unconventional looks, created a mark in the industry with their acting performances.  These unconventional actors have chosen the offbeat path and proved their acting capabilities with some really amazing performances.

Vijay Raaz

Vijay Raaz is well known for his exceptional acting skills and he can ace in both comic and serious roles.

Vijay Raaz is an alumnus of NSD and he got his first big break in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding where he plays a wedding decorator Dubeyji. Naseeruddin Shah recommended his name to the director who was aware of the acting prowess of Vijay Raaz as he has seen him performing in theatres.  His most well-known character must be the one in Abhishek Bachchan starrer Run where he plays Abhishek’s friend who came to Mumbai to look out for his friend. Run  was a box office dud but people loved Vijay Raaz’s performance and his misadventures in the movie and even today, there are many who would watch only scenes of Vijay Raaz from the movie on YouTube and enjoy. He slowly changed his track from doing comedy roles to serious roles and got much acclaim for his performances in movies like Gully Boy and recently released GangubaiKathiawadi where he gave an exceptional performance as a transgender.

Kay KayMenon

Kay KayMenon is one of the finest actors of our country who gave memorable performances in movies like Black Friday, Gulal,Shaurya, Sarkar, Haider etc.

Kay KayMenon like most of the actors of that era, started his career from television where he was the main character in the political drama Pradhanmantri and he got most accolades for AnuragKashyap’s The Last Train to Mahakali, an episode from Star Bestsellers which broadcasted differentstory for every episode directed by different  directors. He then acted in AnuragKashyap’s first movie Paanch which never got released because of some issues with the censor board. His first big break in the movies came with Sarkar when he stood on his own in a movie starring the father-son duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in the movie ‘Sarkar’ Bollywood adaptation of the classic ‘The Godfather. With his flawless dialogue delivery and magnetic screen presence, Kay KayMenon gave brilliant performances in quite a few movies and we all are waiting for the second season of Special Ops with bated breaths.

Along with these five actors, there are few more actors who missed being part of the list are NawazuddinSiddiqui,PankajTripathi,RanvirSheroy and RajpalYadavto name a few. These actors again and again proved their mettle with their brilliant performances.
