Flop Movies with Superhit and Memorable Songs (Part I)

Songs are a very important part of Bollywood movies and many times, movies become successful because of their beautiful songs. But there are times when a movie flopped but its songs became quite famous. Here is the list of a few flop movies with superhit and memorable songs.

Delhi 6

Delhi 6 starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor didn’t do well at the box office but its songs written by Prasoon Joshi and music by A.R Rahman were a resounding success.

Delhi 6 was directed by RakeyshOmprakashMehra whose last movie before Delhi 6 was Rang De Basanti, a blockbuster movie so when Delhi 6 was released, people had lots of expectations from the movie but it was a flop at the box office because of its offbeat subject. But one thing all have to agree that the songs of the movie were great with songs like Masakalli, DilGiraDafatan, Arziyaan, and the title song being famous among music lovers. The music by A.R Rahman is considered one of his best.

Dilwale

Dilwale directed by Rohit Shetty was an underperformer at the box office despite having Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in the lead but the music by Pritam was a hit among the audience.

Dilwale brought Shahrukh Khan and Kajol together after a long gap and it also starred Varun Dhawan and KritiSanon. Directed by Rohit Shetty, this movie got a good opening at the box office but didn’t do well afterward. Irrespective of the fate of the movie, the music of the movie by Pritam became quite a rage with songs like Gerua, JanamJanam ruling the charts for weeks.

AnjanaAnjani

AnjanaAnjani directed by SiddharthAnand got the combination of Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra for the first time but the movie bombed at the box office because of its poor storyline.

AnajanaAnjani was a 2011 release and it had RanbirKapor and Priyanka Chopra acting together for the first time. Directed by SiddharthAnand, people had lots of expectations from the movie but it fared badly at the ticket window. Nevertheless, with songs like TujheBhula Diya, Aaspaas Hai Khuda and the title song, the music of the movie was quite a rage at that time.

BaarBaarDekho

BaarBaarDekho was produced by Farhan Akhtar and RiteshSidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and had some really great songs by Pritam.

With Siddharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif starring in this movie that deals with the theme of the Time Machine, the audience didn’t find the movie good enough to be a success but the film did give us some good romantic songs like Sau Aasman and Daariya and a superb party number like Kala Chashma the only highlights of the movie.

Tamasha

Imtiaz Ali directed Tamasha had Ranbir Kapoor and DeepikaPadukone together in this intense story that failed to do well at the box office but the music became a chartbuster.

Tamasha directed by Imtiaz Ali and featuring Ranbir Kapoor and DeepikaPadukone is one of the most polarized movies of recent times as some call it a masterpiece and some call it just another romantic movie by Imtiaz Ali with the same coming of age theme. Whatever, the movie underperformed at the box office but the music by A.R Rahman was quite appreciated by the audience.
