Food to eat according to your Dosha

Firstly, identify your dosha and consciously work towards improving it

As per the ancient Ayurvedic texts, an almost 5,000-year-old medical philosophy and practice, every other body is made up of different types of energy. These energies can be defined as doshas, and there are three doshas in Ayurveda that describe the dominant mind or body state, these are Vata, Pitta, and Kaphadoshas, namely. It is the combination of five elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space – that gives rise to these three doshas. While all three are present in all of us, there is always one dosha that is dominant.

A balance of these doshas is a dynamic process and is only affected by the seasonal, lifestyle, and diet change. When the doshas are balanced, the body experiences rich health but they are unbalanced body develops disease manifested in terms of skin issues, poor digestion, insomnia, irritability, and anxiety. So here is a list of foods as per particular doshas that one can follow.

Foods for VataDosha It is a cold and dry dosha, so warm or hot fluids like soups or stews should be consumed. Avocado, coconut, olives, buttermilk, cheese, eggs, whole milk, wheat, nuts, seeds, berries, melons, summer squash, zucchini, yogurt. Fruits like green grapes, oranges, and pineapple in small quantities Well-cooked vegetables topped with ghee Warm milk, cream, butter, soups, stews, hot cereals, baked bread, raw nuts and nut butter good for Vatas.

Foods for Pitta Dosha For this Pitta dosha choose foods that are cool or warm and are moderately heavy textured. It should not be steaming hot foods. Fruits like grapes, mango, pomegranate, pineapple, oranges, melon, cherries, coconut, avocado, and plums. Vegetables like asparagus, cucumbers, celery, okra, lettuce, green beans sweet potatoes, leafy greens, pumpkins, broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini. Grains like wheat, white rice, barley, and oats help balance pitta. Meats like turkey, the chicken should be consumed in moderation. Keep the usages of spices soothing ones like coriander, cardamom, saffron and fennel seeds. In hot weather consume salads, milk, ice cream, herbal tea like mint or licorice root. Eat cold cereals, cinnamon toast, and apple tea for breakfast Always  prefer vegetarian foods for Pittas

Foods for Kaphadosha For this type of dosha, warm, light-cooked meal, raw fruits, and vegetables will also do justice. For Kaphas specifically spicy food is good, such as very hot Mexican or Indian food. Also, dry cooking methods like baking, broiling, and sautéing should be preferred. Vegetables like asparagus, cucumbers, celery, okra, lettuce, green beans, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini. Grains like wheat, white rice, barley, and oats. Fruits like grapes, mango, pomegranate, pineapple, oranges, melon, cherries, coconut, avocado, and plums.
