From Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan, Asian Actors who made it Big in Hollywood (Part I)

Recently during an award ceremony, Meryl Streep who is considered one of the best actresses ever in Hollywood mentioned that “Think about it. Hollywood, foreigners, and the press. But who are we? And, you know, what is Hollywood anyway? It's just a bunch of people from other places”. Her statement was totally correct as actors from various parts of the world made their individual contributions to Hollywood to take it to every nook and corner of the world and Asian actors played a very important role here. We have created a list of a few Asian actors who made it big in Hollywood.

Bruce Lee

The name Bruce Lee needs no introduction as he remains an icon around the world who proudly carried his heritage beyond the borders of his country. 

Bruce Lee is a legendary figure in the world of martial arts and action movies across the globe. Along with being a martial artist, he was an actor also and one of the earliest Asian actors who made it big in Hollywood. Bruce Lee was born in Hong Kong and is one of the most influential martial artists ever. Along with martial arts, he was interested in acting also; his father was an opera singer who got him to do small roles as a child artist in a few movies. He moved to Hollywood and became famous after the success of his movie Fist of Fury. His other successful movies are Return of Dragon, Way to the Dragon and the most famous being Enter the Dragon which got him recognition from across the globe. He died very early at the age of 32 but his legacy will live forever.

Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan is the most famous Asian actor in Hollywood after Bruce Lee who is famous for his action-comedy movies. 

Jackie Chan without a doubt is one of the biggest and most famous actors all over the world. He carry forwarded the legacy of great Bruce Lee and bought Hong Kong martial arts movies famous across the globe. Some of his best-known movies are Rush Hour, The Karate Kid, Who Am I, Shanghai Nights, Armor of God, Police Story, The Tuxedo, etc. Recently he received Academy Honorary Award for his “extraordinary achievements" in movies.

Lana Condor

Lana Condor is originally from Vietnam and now is a well-known American actress, singer, and producer.

Lana Condor is a Vietnamese-American actress who debuted in Hollywood with the superhero movie X-Men Apocalypse where she had a pivotal role and she received applause for her performance in the movie. She gained stardom after she played the popular character of Lara Jean Covey from To All The Boys Saga, a Netflix series. She played the role of Koyomi in Alita: Battle Angel, an American cyberpunk action film, and also starred in the coming-of-age romantic comedy Summer Night.
