At present times, architects across the globe compete with each other to create architectural marvels and this has led to many tall buildings in many countries. In this list, we have curated a list of the top five tallest buildings in the world.

Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and it’s the tallest building in the world with a height of 2,717 feet. 

Burj Khalifa must be the most famous name on this list because it takes the title of being the tallest building in the world. It was opened to the public on 22 January 2022. It stands at a height of 2,717 feet and has 163 floors with several luxury apartments, fine-dine restaurants, high-end hotels, and corporate suites.

Shanghai Tower

As the name suggests, the Shanghai tower is located in Shanghai, China, and with a height of 2,073 feet, it’s the second tallest building in the world. 

Located in Shanghai, China, Shanghai Tower is the second tallest building in the world, only next to Burj Khalifa, Dubai. Its height is 2,073 feet and it has 128 floors and up to 270 wind turbines. Its construction started in 1997 but it was halted many times because of financial constraints, and at last, it was completed in 2015. It was designed by the international architecture firm Gensler and this building is owned by the Shanghai Municipal Government.

Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower

Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia and its height is 1,972 feet with 120 storeys. 

The Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower is the third tallest building in the world. Its construction started in 2004 and took about six years to complete it. It was designed by a Lebanese architecture firm named Dar Al-Handasah. Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower is also famous for being the most expensive building in the world, as it took $15 billion to be completed.

Ping An International Finance Centre

Ping An International Finance Centre is located in Shenzhen, China and it was designed by a New York-based architectural firm, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.  

Ping An International Finance Centre is the second tallest building in the world and fourth in the world. Its height is 1,966 feet and it has 100 office floors along with a retail and a conference podium. This building can accommodate about 15,500 workers and nearly 9,000 visitors at a time. It’s also one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shenzhen city, China.

Lotte World Tower

Lotte World Tower with a height of 1,819 feet is the fifth tallest building in the world. It’s located in Seoul, South Korea.

Lotte World Tower in the city of Seoul in South Korea is the fifth tallest building in the world with 123 floors. Its construction started in 2010 and was completed in 2017. This building comprises the world's largest indoor theme park, an outdoor park, luxury hotels, theatres, shopping malls, and a Korean folk museum.
