There are so many movies in Bollywood that did historic business in India and abroad and we can’t limit it to just five movies as it will be unfair to others, so here are a few more movies from Indian cinema that created magic in the box office.

DilwaleDulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

Directed by debutant Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films of Yash Chopra, DilwaleDulhaniya Le Jayenge created history when released and it’s probably the movie that made Shahrukh Khan the superstar we know today

DilwaleDulhaniya Le Jayenge starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol along with being a big hit is a great Bollywood movie that gave us lots of iconic things that defines Bollywood in many ways. It gave us the first archetypical Bollywood rom-com about NRIs that became a fad afterward. It is also the longest-running Indian cinema as it ran for 1,200 weeks at the Maratha Mandir, Mumbai a record that seems to be unbroken in near future.

Gadar:EkPrem Katha (2001)

If footfalls counted, Gadar: EkPrem Katha starring Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel is a bigger hit than Dangal and Bahubali series combined.

It was the clash of titans when Sunny Deol’sGadar: EkPrem Katha and Aamir Khan’s Lagaan were released on the same day. While Lagaan did fairly good business at the box office and got all the praise from critics, it was Gadar: EkPrem Katha that created a mass hysteria upon its release. It did phenomenal business all around India and became the biggest hit of the new century. It became the movie with the highest number of footfalls and tickets being sold behind only Sholay and if inflation counted, it would have earned more than a thousand crores in India only.

3 Idiots (2009)

3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, R.Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, and BomanIrani was the first Bollywood movie that earned more than 200 crores at the box office.

RajkumarHirani directed 3 Idiots was a box office tsunami when released in 2009 and it earned more than 200 crores at the box office, the first Indian movie to achieve this feat. The movie talked about the important issue of the education system in India and was a huge success, especially among the youth. Its characters became iconic and it still remains one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema.

BajrangiBhaijaan (2015)

BajrangiBhaijaan is one of the few movies of Salman Khan that actually had a good script with Salman Khan “acting” in a movie. Directed by Kabir Khan, BajrangiBhaijaan was the highest-earning Bollywood movie upon its release.

Kabir Khan directed BajrangiBhaijaan portrayed Salman in a different light from his usual roles and proved that given a good script, Salman Khan can actually act nicely in a movie. Here in the movie, Salman Khan played the role of a simpleton Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, an ardent follower of God Hanuman who travels to Pakistan to unit a small girl of six years with her parents. It did exceptionally well at the box office while getting applause from the audience and critics alike.
