You don’t need an orchard to grow fruits; your living room is enough!

What if we told you that you don’t need a massive garden to plant fruit trees and instead a pot beside your couch in your living room could work the magic? Besides being a treat for eyes and uplifting the look of your indoors, planting dwarf fruit trees inside your house also circulates clean air while offering delicious fruits for the table as well. However, you must remember indoor fruit trees are to be dwarf sized and not your regular garden sized for obvious reasons. Here are a few dwarf fruit trees that you can grow inside your house.

Meyer Lemon Tree

The Meyer lemon tree is the most commonly chosen indoor fruit tree because of its compact size.  It’s one of the most hassle free fruit trees you can grow inside your house mainly because they are self pollinating. However, these plants take about two to three years time to bear fruit. Meyer lemon trees can grow up to 8ft tall and so, you must remember to prune them to maintain a small and reasonable height for these trees. Keep them at a spot where they would get sunlight for at least six hours of the day. Again, like all citrus trees, Meyer lemon trees need soil that is well drained while retaining some moisture.

Olive Tree

Although many people don’t consider olives to be fruits because of their savoury taste as opposed to the general sweetness of fruits, yet olive trees are a great choice for indoor fruit trees. Moreover, olive trees are super forgiving and are very easy to take care of while they can produce at least 20 pounds of olives for your family. That being said, make sure that your olive tree is kept at a lit corner where it can receive sunlight for at least six hours. Olive trees also prefer to be grown in soil that are well drained and has to be watered when the top inch of the soil has dried out.

Kumquat Tree

Kumquats are beautiful fruits that can be grown inside your house. They need to be grown just like any citrus fruit tree. This means providing them with sunlight for 6 to 8 hours along with a well drained soil. However, compared to other fruit trees, kumquat trees need higher levels of water and humidity.
