Greek Islands: The Heavens on Earth

Whatever you wish, Greece will offer you. Whether you are a sea person or a hill, whether you are a hiker or a historian, whether you are a party animal or a foodie, you get all your desires fulfilled in Greece. With almost 200 islands, Greece has plenty of things to offer you. With its rich history and magnificent landscape, it’s a paradise for any traveller. If you are planning your next holiday in Greece, these are the islands you should have on your bucket list:

Rhodes

If you want to travel back in time this is the place for you. With stunning architectures and finger-licking food is an island you will regret if not visited. You can visit Lindos Village where you will find the clifftop acropolis, which features monumental 4th-century gates and reliefs from about 280 B.C. You will also find a temple dedicated to Athena Lindia and a Hellenistic stoa once you reach the clifftop. If you want to dig into some authentic greek food you can also visit the famous restaurant of Ta Kardasia.

Mykonos

North of the stunning island of Santorini, situated is a small island and town Mykonos. The best part of Mykonos is that it's a very small island, so you can easily plan it even if you don’t have much time in your hand. It has the perfect amalgamation of charm, culture and beautiful views.

Zakynthos

Zakynthos is a place for all adventure junkies. With beautiful beaches and picturesque summer resorts, it is a laid back town. Surrounded by the Ionian sea, this island has too many places to offer. Places like Navagio Beach, the Blue Caves and Porto Limnionas are some of the main tourist attractions. And if you are up for water sports Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas and Tsilivi are the places for you.

Crete

Crete is the largest among the major Greek Islands. In Crete, you will be spoilt for choices as there is so much to see. It has everything for you starting from historic forts, plates of yummy Greek food and oodles of beautiful scenery. If you want to explore the Venetian histories you should visit Spinalonga Island. For a laid back day, you can visit the tiny little fishing village Loutro, situated on the south coast of Crete. Lastly, you can visit the Knossos Palace, often referred to as Europe's oldest city. Santorini

The most famous and the most picturesque island of all is Santorini. It has been said that it was actually the home of Atlantis. On a bright sunny day, it looks nothing short of heaven on earth. From watching the sun setting down from Oia in the lazy afternoon to sailing around, there are many things that you can do in Santorini.
