Plus, they add a lot of colour and beauty. What's more, you do not need a whole lot of space to grow herbs. You don't even require a garden for this project. You can grow herbs indoors, on a windowsill or kitchen countertop. These types of plants thrive in sunlight, but in a sheltered position. Here are some simple but fresh herbs to grow in your garden.

Grow minty and cooling peppermint

Peppermint is a hybrid mint that is a cross between watermint and spearmint. This aromatic herb has some amazing properties - anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial,antioxidant, and carminative. There is so much more to it. Essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the peppermint and is used in a variety of ways. It is also perfect in dishes as it has a cooling aftertaste and strong sweetish odour. The leaves of this culinary herb are often used fresh. Meanwhile the flower are dried and used to enhance the flavour candy. You can also use this herb in beverages, desserts, and savoury foods.

Grow spicy and bitter holy basil

Holy basil, also known as Tulsi, is an amazing aromatic herb that is part of the Lamiaceae family. It is widely known for its healing and medicinal properties. There are also a variety of flavoured types of basil to grow. You can add this interesting her to various dishes, from pizza to fresh salads.

Grow woodsy aromatic rosemary

The aroma of rosemary is unmistakable. It is unique and gives you a comforting feeling. Grow rosemary in moist but well-drained soil. Make sure it is in full sun. Give the mature plants a trip every now and then to prevent them from becoming woody. Soups and sauces are some of the types of dishes you can make with this aromatic herb.

Grow deliciously fresh dill

Dill is easy to grow and tastes great. It has many medicinal and culinary use. Dill can also enhance many dishes, like herby salads.  Find a sheltered, sunny spot in your garden to sow dill seeds into well prepared soil. These plants should be well-watered, especially when the weather is hot and dry.
