Among the various adventurous sports that have taken over, Super cross or dirt biking or off-roading is the newest trend. Dirt biking has been a part of the western sports culture for a long time, but the sport has now slowly started to make inroads into the Indian sporting culture too. An adventure sport performed entirely in nature over the rickety rocky terrains through the mud while having a steady and firm grip over the bike. At this time, India has seen a rise in the younger generation taking up an immense interest in dirt biking. So here is a list of some of the best and most famous dirt bikers from India.
Chun chung uppe Shiva shankar Santosh
An off-road and enduro motorcycle racer, Santosh is a multiple National Supercross and Motocross champion. With a career spanning over a decade in motorbike racing across challenging terrains and multiple nations, Santosh participated in the Dakar Rally for six straight years and completed it thrice.
In 2005 he won the MRF National Supercross champion and the Gulf National Dirt Track championship. In 2006, he won the Al-Ain Motocross in Dubai. In 2007, he became the National Supercross champion, and in 2008, he became the first Indian in the Asian Motocross championship to have qualified with the fastest time in Moto II in Iran. He also became the MRF Supercross Challenge champion winning the Gulf Dirt Track championship for the second time. In 2009, Santosh won the Maharagama Motocross in Sri Lanka and the following year he won the MRF National Supercross championship, and the Rolon National Dirt Track championship.
Shankar Sarath Kumar
A professional motorcycle road racer and a national champion in the 125cc class, Kumar began his career with the Ten10 Racing Team competing in the 125cc class in the 2011 MotoGP. In 2009, Kumar competed in the up to 165 cc 4-stroke open class, finishing fourth. He then entered the FIM UAM Indian round of the Asia GP championship as a wildcard entry and finished seventh and eighth. In 2010, Kumar won the Indian 4-stroke up to 165cc open class at the MECO Endurance Race, a 90-minute non-stop event.
Yuvraj sinh Konde Deshmukh
Eleven-year-old Deshmukh hailing from Pune has been into the sport from the age of four. The boy is said to be the speediest kid in racing with exceptional skills like jumping and body balancing.
