Here is how you can promote body positivity

Important is to love and appreciate oneself the way we are

All love and any kind of love begins from within and out. How much we love and appreciate our actions and decisions and at the same time how much we cherish and treasure ourselves of how we look and appear to the world. As much as it is about the journey inward, the outward appearances also make a lot of difference in today’s world. A lot is to be blamed on the photoshopped spot-free skin or the slim body types. And social media is nothing but a cherry on the cake where colour and body shapes are openly ridiculed. In such times we should be concentrating on promoting body positivity. How we do that, you ask. Well, read on and find out how it can be done.

Do some positive affirmations.

This practice not only helps in building a stronger self but also a stronger self-loving system. It is one of the most basic and harmless practices to do. All you have to do is speak aloud and often, especially when you tend to start feeling ungrateful for your body. It may feel silly at the beginning, but because it feels that way, do it anyway. It is not for anyone else to be seen but for you. Stand in front of the mirror and keep at it. You can also paste some post-it with positive notes such as, “I am enough”, “I love my body and myself”, and “You’re beautiful”.

Giving oneself verbal encouragement is a hundred times better than waiting to hear it from someone.

Accepting compliments won't hurt.

Of course, there are days when you look the prettiest; that is because you have put in that extra effort to look that way. But when someone comes forward with a compliment for the beauty they are witnessing, we tend to become awkward. We may see ourselves as not good enough with the body that is helping us move and have fun, but others don't see us that way. And when we don't accept a compliment, we immediately put ourselves down.

Better to think healthier and not skinnier

When we look around and witness only the size zero and dresses you won't fit in, it spirals down to hate towards self—eventually leading to hunting down ways of reducing the fat from the diet and harming self in other ways. Instead, start by thinking of eating healthier and smarter.

Most importantly, it is to indulge in surrounding yourself with people who appreciate you the way you are—encouraging and promoting positive social media usage.
