Highest individual score in ODI chase

There have only been five scores in excess of 180 in ODI run chases to date. Fakhar Zaman 193 Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman broke the record of scoring the most runs in an ODI run chase when he struck 193 in the second ODI between South Africa and Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg in April 2021.

South Africa batted first and put on a mammoth 341 for 6 on the board on the back of 92 from captain Temba Bavuma and 80 from wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.

In reply, Pakistan were reeling at 186/6 from 33.5 overs, but one man ensured that the team was still in the game. Opener Fakhar Zaman struck 193 runs off 155 deliveries with 18 fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 124.52.

Pakistan still had a slim chance of winning had Zaman not been run out on the first ball of the final over. South Africa won the match by 17 runs.

Shane Watson 185 BeforeFakhar Zaman made a new record for scoring the most number of runs in an ODI run chase, Shane Watson was the record holder. His record of scoring the most number of runs in an ODI chase stood for a decade.

Watson scored an unbeaten 185 against Bangladesh in Dhaka in April 2011 from just 96 balls with the help of 15 fours and 15 sixes at a strike rate of 192.70.

MS Dhoni 183 MS Dhoni is third on the list of batsmen scoring the most runs in an innings in an ODI run chase. Dhoni scored 183 not out against Sri Lanka at Jaipur in October 2005. He faced just 145 deliveries and struck at 126. Dhoni's knock included 15 fours and 10 sixes.

ViratKohli 183 ViratKohli made a mark with 183 against Pakistan in Dhaka. He took 148 balls for his magnificent hand and struck 22 fours in the process, scoring his runs at a strike rate of 123.64. The match was part of the 2012 Asia Cup.

Ross Taylor 181 Ross Taylor is only one of five batsmen to have scored more than 180 runs in an ODI chase. He struck an unbeaten 181 against England in March 2018 while facing 147 deliveries. Taylor had a strike rate of 123.12 and struck 17 fours and 6 sixes.

Martin Guptill and Jason Roy have also scored 180 runs each against South Africa and Australia respectively.
