Home remedies to de-tan the skin

The scorching sunin the summer and the long hours of sitting in front of the screen cause tanning on the skin. While the tan will look gorgeous in the initial days, after a while it starts to bother. Especially when the tan is uneven, it doesn’t seem right. Besides, the beauty aspect of the tan for some people may also harm the skin in many ways that are unknown to us. To overcome the hurdle of de-tanning the skin, there are plenty of home remedies that can help de-tan. Read on to find out more.

The humble lemon juice and sweet honey

Lemon juice has its own strong anti-oxidant properties and so does honey. Both combined together make for the best de-tanning agent. Lemon juice also has bleaching properties which makes it even more effective.

In a bowl, squeeze in some fresh lemon juice, to that add honey and mix all this together well. apply it on the face, and tanned skin and keep it for about 30 minutes. Wash it off after 30 minutes. if you wish, add white sugar to it for exfoliation and removal of dead skin.

The cooling yogurt and juicy red tomato juice

Tomato has a rich source of antioxidants that are important in brightening the skin. Whereas, yogurt on the other hand comprises lactic acid that makes the skin softer in texture.

Cut up a fresh tomato and mash it with bare hands in order to get its juice or else you can try making a puree of it. To the raw tomato juice add yogurt and mix well. Apply this mixture to the tanned area, be it the face, hands, arms, or back. Keep the mixture for about half an hour, then wash it off. You will see instant results with this. Not only will the tan disappear but the skin will also become softer.

The antiseptic turmeric and fragrant sandalwood

Sandalwood powder, along with turmeric and milk, can be made into a face pack and applied to the skin to effectively remove a suntan. The characteristic of sandalwood is that of cooling and soothing to the skin and the turmeric not only soothes the skin but also repairs the damage.

In a bowl add turmeric, sandalwood, and milk, and mix well. Apply the paste to the face and the tanned area. Keep it on until it dries completely. Then wash it off, while gently also rubbing the pack against the skin working as an exfoliating agent. Instead of sandalwood, one can also add Multani mitti, or gram flour.

Other de-tanning agents are Curd and honey; Cucumber and Milk, and Aloe Vera.
