How Bhringraj Oil can do wonders to your hair

It is free of chemicals and has an ancient proven property of healing

An extract of Ecliptaalba, commonly known as false daisy, Bhringraj is a herb that is highly effective in fighting bacteria and fungus. A species of plant in the sunflower family, Bhringraj is grown mainly in moist places, warm temperate and tropical areas, widely distributed throughout India, Nepal, China, Thailand, and Brazil.

Bhringraj oil is also known as Mahabhringraj oil and is essentially prepared from the leaves of the Bhringraj herb. After the leaves are sundried for two-three days, it is then mixed and heated with a carrier oil like coconut or sesame oil. Once prepared, leave the oil under the sun for another two-three days till the color changes to green. Also, another method of preparing Bhringraj oil is by just adding powdered Bhringraj leaves in hot coconut oil and store.

While you might be hearing this now due to the fashion fad, however, it has been a part of Indian Ayurveda for a long. And why it has been so widely used is due to its healing property of promoting hair growth; strengthen hair, and preventing graying and dandruff.

It's a reliable remedy for common concerns like baldness, receding hairline, dryness, and dandruff of the scalp as well as fizziness. It can also be used on the body and has a cooling effect. So, in a way you can make this oil even at home, keeping it highly organic and chemical-free. As far as the nutritional contents of Bhringraj oil are concerned, it is rich in iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin E.

Promotes hair growth By applying Bhringraj oil on the scalp, it is said to increase the number of hair follicles preventing hair loss. That is so because it contains vitamin E, which is known to fight free radicals that can impede hair growth, positive results can be seen in terms of increased thickness and luster of hair.

Reduces dandruff The Bhringraj oil has antimicrobial and antifungal properties that help in reducing dandruff, as well as has anti-inflammatory properties that help ease psoriasis or other skin irritations on when massaged into the scalp or the skin. Further, it helps in improving the blood circulation to the scalp.

Slow graying Though scientifically speaking, the graying of hair is largely genetic. However, since the Bhringraj oil has natural medicinal properties it may slow or prevent the graying process due to the darkening properties of Bhringraj which helps hair appear less gray. At the same time, it will also prevent from most common and irritable problem of hair, split ends.

It is also said to promote relaxation and sleep due to the magnesium present in it that promotes muscle relaxation, sleep, and improves mood.
