How Do Natural And Human Made Environment Differ

Difference between the two types of environment

Our environment consists of everything around us. Thus, every object on earth is an element of the environment. These include all living things, including microbes to humans, animals, and plants; There are also non-living elements like mountains, rivers, soil etc. These are all natural ingredients of the environment. It also contains all the man-made elements in it. All of these combine our environment.

Types of Environment

There are basically two types of environment based on material and structure - one is Natural Environment and another is Man-made or artificial Environment. The differences between these two types of environment are discussed below.

Where they differ

In a Natural Environment, all the elements are natural and interactive towards each other in a natural process.

In a Man-made Environment, biotic and abiotic elements are placed together with the intention to  build an artificial environment.

Natural environment works according to the omnipotent system of nature, beyond the capacity of human beings.

The artificial environment works according to the plan behind its making with help of a little bit of technology.

The elements of Natural environmentare self-sufficient.

On the other hand, the existence and development of man-made environments depend on human assistance.

The genetic diversity of the Natural Environment is very huge.

Man-made environments consist of a very limited range of diversity in terms of genetics.

Hills, Rivers, Seas, and lands are examples of natural atmospheres, whereas Zoos, aquariums, and parks are man-made environments.

The food chain is long, complete and complex for the natural environment, short-temporary and incomplete for the man-made environment.

Nutrient cycle of a natural environment is a completely full cycle and in the case of man-made environments, the nutrient cycles are incomplete in all cases.

Natural environment sustains by maintaining balance among the elements of nature, providing resources for food, energy, power and other necessary elements.

Man-made environment sustains by human effort and well organised planning and it provides entertainment and resources for financial benefit.

Natural environment needs to be nourished and protected to secure the future of the world and human civilization. Man-made environment needs to be maintained to ensure its beauty and beneficial outcomes only.

Human beings are the most vital part of the Natural Environment, who are very much dependent on it. And in the case of man-made environments, human beings do play the role of the creators and controllers of it.

So, these are the prime 10 differences between Natural and Man-made Environment.
