How to avoid flaky and dry skin this winter
Winter season means your skin needs that extra dose of moisture.
We are all set to kickstart the winter season, and that certainly means that your skin will turn dry and flaky. Also, it would need that extra dose of moisture as the cold air strips natural moisture out of your skin, thereby making it undernourished. While a proper skincare routine may have taken a backseat due to focus on our health during COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative that we don’t forget to moisturise our skin. So we have curated some remedies and DIY tips that you can not only try at your home but can be achieved with the help of your kitchen ingredients:
DIY remedies
Use lemon
As we all know, lemon contains Vitamin C, which not only makes your skin glow but also nourishes it from the inside. It reduces your acne problem because of its antiseptic properties. So apply its juice on your skin for 5 minutes and rinse off.
Apply honey and sugar scrub
The anti-inflammatory properties of honey, along with sugar, can help in exfoliating your skin and keeping it clean. Mix them together to form a paste and apply it on your skin directly. Wash it off after some time and find your skin supple and dirt free.
Use a yoghurt and honey mask
Yoghurt is known for skin brightening, and it also hydrates your skin by getting rid of the dead skin cells. Mix 1/4th cup yoghurt and 1 tsp milk powder with little honey. Apply the paste to your face for 10 minutes before rinsing it off.
Try tamarind juice
It is known to contain vitamin B and vitamin C, which can reduce the appearance of scars and make it glowing.
Tips
Use a mild face cleanser and soap
Using a hard soap or face wash can rip off our face's natural oils and make your skin even more flaky. So make sure to avoid it in any way and use a mild one instead. Make sure you immediately moisturise your face after washing by using a cream or lotion with ingredients like glycerine and shea butter.
Try a skin serum
Apply a hydrating serum before a moisturiser if your skin feels extremely dry as it can help to keep your skin smooth.
Avoid hot showers
While you may want to take hot showers in the winter season, avoid them and go for a warm shower as the former can dry out your skin and lead to flaky skin.
