Babies require a lot of attention, even when they are sleeping. They grow fast into cute little toddlers and before you know it can run investigative activities around your home. Hence it is essential to note every step you can take to make your home baby proof and avoid any unforeseen events.

Cover up all sharp edges

Any sharp corners that can result in a bump have to be either eliminated or covered. Depending on what the sharp edge is, whether a table or the door, you can purchase materials which will be an exact fit to cover such edges. It is even better if you can mostly get rid of such furniture and makes more space for the baby to roam about and explore.

Locks for cabinets, refrigerator and bathroom doors

Even at their cutest moments babies are unpredictable, so prepare to have your hands full as soon as they start crawling. It is best to lock cabinet doors at all times besides the refrigerator with a temporary lock which can only be opened by adults. You can use the same mechanism for the bathroom door. This will help you keep a sound mind while you are carrying out your house chores with a baby around you.

Keep all small and sharp objects, cleaning products out of reach

Any chemicals that are not consumable have to be strictly kept out of reach as children have an inherent tendency to put things in their mouth. All other types of chemicals like cleaning products are to be kept in their own lock away storage spaces. Besides this knives and other sharp objects have to be stored away too.

Beware of electrical outlets

All outlets that are close to the floor and can be reached easily have to be covered. This is a must for every outlet that your baby can reach. Other outlets which are located a bit higher on the wall are best left covered unless it’s being used.

Check and remove houseplants if necessary

Often children get curious about various things and try to hold and even taste things. This can be dangerous if you have houseplants. Generally people use fertilizer for upkeep of such plants and consumption of such stuff can be dangerous. It is best to either remove them from places where babies can reach them easily or limit your baby from going into the balcony or garden where the plants are without your constant vigilance.
