How to conduct a research work

Many of you must be thinking of enrolling into Universities and getting a higher degree.

One of the most important parts of doing higher studies and getting a master’s degree is doing research work. You have to do research work, probably in your last semester in order to get the degree. So, this blog will provide you with some tips and techniques to do research work and you can flaunt your knowledge when your professor starts teaching the class about research work.

Selecting the topic will be your first step

You need to select a proper topic that you want to research on and do remember the topic must be unique. The main purpose of doing research is that you are introducing something new or you are investigating specific aspects of an already existing research work. Therefore, your topic has to be very specific and should reflect what you are going to include in the research work.

Search for information before you start your research

A preliminary search for information is mandatory before you start your research work. It gives you a clear idea of what you should include in your study and also what you should stay away from. Adding on to this, a preliminary search for information will let you know different aspects of the area of your research.

Think about from where you are going to collect information

In a research work, you can include primary as well as secondary data. The primary data is the data collected from first hand sources like human data. Whereas, the secondary data is the data that is collected from existing research works. You can include both the types of data but do remember if you induce primary data it will make your study a stronger one.

Collect your thoughts and start writing

Now that you have selected your topic, did a preliminary search for information and identified the sources of your information, start writing. It is the most crucial part of your research work so keep calm and collect your thoughts before you start writing. Different institutions have different writing formats but everyone follows the same basic chapters, introduction, literature review, methodology, data analysis, findings, discussion and conclusion. There is another thing you have to remember while you write your research work, cite your sources. Anything and everything that you write has to be referenced, otherwise your claim will not be valid.

These are the essential steps that you should consider if you want to make your research work stand out from the rest.
