Husqvarna 125 Revealed, Rivals Duke 125

After penetrating the 250cc segment, the Swedish brand has made an effort to grab a share of the 125cc category

Swedish brand Husqvarna has revealed a 125cc iteration of their famous Vitpilen and Svartpilen model. A few days back, the company revealed the Svartpilen 125 and is likely to bring in the Vitpilen 125 in the days to come. As of now, they have revealed the model for the international markets, but there’s a possibility that the model will be accessible in India shortly. Over the years, the two designs from the Swedish manufacturer have enjoyed a remarkable reputation in the hearts of the riders and moto-enthusiasts around the world. However, nobody foresaw the manufacturer to bring 125cc versions since the brand is identified for developing big motorcycle for the big boys and girls.

Not your average commuter

It’s a 125 version which means the motorcycle is meant for those who are more into daily commuting. However, the Svartpilen 125 is not any other average commuter. It has been specifically made for those who are interested in riding a premium motorcycle but do not prefer an enormous engine. We call it premium because the 125cc motorcycle comprises elements such as trellis frame, WP USD fork, preload adjustable monoshock, LCD instrumentation, dual disc brakes and ABS. Not to forget, they have equipped the international model with wire-spoke wheels and Pirelli Scorpion STR dual-purpose tyres.

Powertrain and other highlights

The Svartpilen 125 is powered by a 125cc, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that has been tuned to churn out a power figure of 14.5hp and 12Nm of peak torque. Since the motorcycle is a commuter, it carries a 9.5-litre of fuel tank and also offers a tank rack as standard. However, the motorcycle weighs 146 kg, which is substantial for a 125cc two-wheeler.

Rival

Without a doubt, the Svartpilen 125 goes up against its distant cousin, the Duke 125. While Svartpilen is more of a scrambler, the Duke 125 is a naked street-fighter motorcycle. The Duke 125 also acquires power from a 124.7cc engine that generates 14.5hp of power and a peak torque of 12Nm.

India bound, a possibility

Going by the success the KTM 125 has enjoyed in India since its debut, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is likely to hit the Indian showrooms in the months to come. As far as pricing is concerned, a tag of around INR 1.35 lakh will be suitable for the Swedish motorcycle.
