Indian box office flops that are appreciated by NRIs

Not every film works at the box office. The commercial success of a film depends on many factors and it is difficult to understand the reason behind the failure of so many movies. However, there are some movies which do not work well in the country but have done great in foreign countries, largely because of NRIs who are attached emotionally to their homeland cinema.

Some movies are made for the rural and small town audience, who wants entertainment in their daily lives and are labelled as masala movies or commercial cinema. Then there are movies which carry different layers and messages and are made for the people living in the metro cities. Such movies are meant to be enjoyed by people who can discuss it later. Do you think there are movies which are made for NRIs? Honestly speaking, there are no such movies but filmmakers know how to exploit the emotions of people living away from their country. There are records which prove that in India, many movies have recovered their budget and even gained huge profits after failing at the box office. These movies are appreciated and loved by NRI while they are considered as flop in India.

There are thousands of instances which prove his worth as a megastar and that is why his films work well in overseas, even if they fail in India. Jab Harry Met Sejal, directed by Imtiaz Ali is a classic example of this.

Dilwale

However, the film managed to win the hearts of the NRIs and made good amount on money in countries like Canada, UK, US and Germany.

Asoka
