From the backwaters of Carribbean sands to English villages, cricket is played in several geographical locations. Cricket has gone through several innovation since its inception in terms of fields, dresses, formats and rules. Let's talk about innovative shots and their innovators.

Since the advent of Indian Premier League and other leagues all over the world, cricket has witnessed several innovation and inventions. The dynamics of the game has changed in the last few decades and after the inception of T20 cricket league, cricketers has innovated new shots to score more boundaries. Both the bowlers and batsman know each other really well in today's times and it id therefore the need of fhe hour to create half chances into full. Let's talk about the invention in cricketing shots and their creators.

Helicopter shot

The first shot in the list is helicopter shot invented by none other than MS Dhoni. It is important to talk about this shot as all the other shots are either extension of the traditional shots or the mew version of the same but helicopter shot is pure invention. Yorkers are considered as the deadliest weapon a bowler has in their kitty and it is difficult to save your wicket on a good yorker. In such scenarios, it was impossible to think that a batsman can score runs on a Yorker ball until Dhoni came up with helicopter shot. The shot needs high bat lift and relies on powerful bottom hands. The motion of the shot is not straight and it is played in a circular motion like the wings of helicopter. MS Dhoni has mastered this shot which is now widely played by many.

Dil Scoop

TM Dilshan, the famous middle order batsman of Sri Lanka innovated a way to face deadly fast bowler and even hit them for four and six with ease. He remastered the scoop shot by playing it above his head in the 'V' behind the keeper. This shot was practiced a lot by Dilshan in the nets before he started playing it in the matches. It doesn't rely on power hitting abilities of the batter, instead it requires the right timing and correct footwork to play this shot.

Switch Hit

Switch hit is perhaps the mot entertaining shot that we have seen in cricket. Everytime someone plays it, it looks great and is a treat to eyes. As the name suggests, the shot requires the batsman to switch his batting side and the grip of the shot. The right handed batsman can play it like a left handed batsman and vice versa. This shot, however, is controversial and several bowlers have expressed their disagreement from the use of this shot.
