Interesting Facts About Bengal Cats

Here is why Bengal cats are fascinating.

Bengal cats are fascinating creatures and tend to look like a tiny jungle cat. They have large oval eyes and a coat that’s covered in marbled markings. Here are some interesting things you may not know about Bengal cats.

The Bengal cat is a popular cat breed

This cat has a leopard-like appearance, which makes it look exotic. These wild-looking cats are also smart and beautiful. It is one of the reasons that this hybrid cat breed is popular. Its pattern and personality are what make them unique. They are also large and well-muscled felines and stay almost the same size as a large domestic house cat.  While they are not very large cats, like the Maine Coons or Norwegian Forest cat, they can weigh somewhere between six and 15 pounds. Larger ones can reportedly weigh 18 pounds.

Bengals are known for their "marbled" coats

Bengal cats have distinctively patterned fur, which sets them apart from the rest. Their "marbled" coats are short and silky. It also looks sparkly at the tips when the lighting is just right. What's even more interesting is that no two cats look alike when it comes to their marking. Bengal’s coat comes in two main patterns. One is spots and the other is two-toned markings or marbled. Brown and black are the most popular Bengal cat colours. However, they also come in various other shades of seal brown and silver, black and silver, charcoal, and blue. When it comes to the colour of their eyes, they typically have a green, gold yellow, or aqua blue hue.

Bengals cats are extremely active cats.

Bengals cats may look like a wildcat, but they have a personality of a typical feline. These cats are very intelligent, vocal, and extremely active. Don't be surprised if you find them climbing on the furniture or leaping up onto high surfaces. If you are an energetic person, you may enjoy having them around as they may just be able to keep up with a high-intensity lifestyle. These cats reportedly also like to play fetch and have a splash in sinks and bathtubs.

Caring for a Bengal Cat

The needs of a Bengal cat are basic. Make sure they are on a healthy diet and keep them well-groomed. Provide them with cat safe puzzle toys or interactive toys that they can use. Set up sturdy climbing trees and window perches as they love to climb.
