IPL: RCB vs MI, who's winning the six-hitting battle

Having had the likes of Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and AB de Villiers in their ranks over the years, Royal Challengers Bangalore pip Mumbai Indians in IPL's six hitting race. 6.97 - RCB Chris Gayle may no longer be a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise but some of his best years in the IPL came with the Virat Kohli led franchise. Chris Gayle is by far the batsman with the most sixes in the IPL history, having struck 357 sixes from 140 matches at an average in excess of 40 and strike rate of almost 150. Gayle has scored close to 5000 runs and a lot of them have come through sixes.

AB de Villiers too has 245 sixes from 176 matches. He has scored 5056 runs from 162 IPL innings at an average over 40 and a strike rate of 152.38. In fact, Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has also struck over 200 sixes from 199 appearances in the IPL having made his runs at an average of 37.97 and strike rate of over 130.

The likes of Brendon Mccullum and KL Rahul who have 130 and 126 sixes respectively also add to the six count of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Bangalore hit almost 7 sixes per innings which is impressive when you come to think of it. In effect, the team scores 42 runs on an average in just sixes in every match in the IPL.

Currently, RCB players like Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, Kyle Jamieson, Mohammad Azharuddeen and Finn Allan have the ability to hit massive sixes.

6.33 - MI Mumbai Indians have some of the fiercest strikers in the IPL. Just have a look at their batting line-up and you have either Quinton de Kock or Chris Lynn partnering Rohit Sharma at the top of the order, with Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan following in the middle order.

Mumbai also have Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya who have the ability to smash the leather of the ball. Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard have hit 224 and 211 sixes respectively in the IPL.

It is no surprise then that Mumbai Indians are placed at the second spot in the list of IPL teams with the best average of sixes hit per innings.

6.24 - CSK, 5.85 - KXIP and 5.83 - KKR are next in line among teams to have hit the most sixes per innings in the IPL.
