IPL Recall: Youngest Bowlers in IPL to Scalp 100 Wickets

A total of 17 bowlers have picked up 100 wickets in the IPL till now, with Rashid Khan being the youngest.

Since its inception, the Indian Premier League has proved to be the perfect stage for youngsters to prove their worth. In fact, the tournament has become the gateway to the Indian national cricket team. From the tournament, numerous young batsmen and bowlers have risen to become recognisable names in the world of cricket. Therefore, in the following paragraphs, we have listed some bowlers who were the youngest to scalp 100 IPL wickets. 

Yuzvendra Chahal

Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is the sixth fastest to 100 IPL wickets and completed the feat at the age of 28 years and 285 days in 2019. Chahal has picked up 190 wickets in 147 matches at an average of 21.58 in his IPL career.

Sandeep Sharma

Fast bowler Sandeep Sharma is also past the 100-wicket mark. He registered the feat of completing 100 IPL wickets at the age of 27 years and 158 days. Sandeep has taken 125 scalps in 118 IPL matches at an average of 27.65 and an economy rate of 7.87.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah has been one of the key players for Mumbai Indians for many years, and has been representing the side since making his debut in the league in 2013. He took 89 matches in the IPL to reach the three-figure mark.

Bumrah is now at the fourth place in this list, reaching the milestone at the age of 26 years 327 days. The slinger has bagged 148 wickets in 122 IPL matches at an average of 23.16.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Age wise, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the third quickest to 100 IPL wickets. Bhuvi reached there in IPL 2017 at the age of 26 and 133 days. In all, the UP bowler has 170 wickets in 162 matches.

Piyush Chawla

At the second top of the list is veteran spinner Piyush Chawla. He completed 100 wickets in the IPL at the age of 26 years and 117 days and held the distinction of being the youngest player to do so.

Rashid Khan

While all the other names belong from India, Afghan bowler Rashid Khan shocked everyone when picked up 100 IPL wickets at the age of 23. In fact, in IPL’s history, no other player age 23 or below has matched the record. On April 23, 2022, Rashid Khan while bowling for Gujarat Titans reached the milestone against Kolkata Knight Riders.
