Nature’s explanations of complex phenomena are also proof that mathematics can exist in every aspect of the world.
The amazing patterns and shapes that can be seen in the world around us can be attributed to mathematics. This is the building block of the natural world, and it can be seen in various ways. Some of my favourite examples of math are shown here.
The Fibonacci Sequence:
The number sequence known as the Leonardo Fibonacci pattern is a simple yet profound example of mathematics. The first two numbers are 1 and 1, and then the subsequent numbers are added to make up the total.
What’s remarkable is that the Fibonacci sequence is often found in nature.
Examples of geometric shapes that can be seen in nature include the number of spirals in an image of pine cone, or the number of seeds or petals on a flower. In addition, the sequence’s resulting numbercan be seen in the form of hurricanes and shells.
Fractals in Nature:
Another interesting mathematical shape that can be seen in nature is the “fractal.” This is a repeating shape that’s self-similar. This means that the same basic shape can be seen in it repeatedly.
The same shape can be seen in different ways, such as when you zoom in or out. The various types of textures and patterns that can be seen in nature through the prism of the fractal include the branches of trees and the leaves of ferns.
Hexagons in Nature
One of the most geometric shapes that can be seen in nature is the hexagon, which has six sides of equal length. This shape is repeated and can be seen in different ways around the world. The most common example of nature using hexagons is in a bee hive.In order to build their hive, bees use a combination of hexagons and tessellation. In the case of bubbles, the hexagons are often seen in the raft bubbles. However, did you know that every snowflake has a hexagonal shape?
Concentric Circles in nature
A common geometric shape that can be seen in nature is the set of concentric circles. This type of circle has multiple sizes, and it can be seen in different ways.
If you’re in the woods, you might go looking for a tree that has fallen, or a spider web made of concentric circles.
