Kawasaki's Z900RS SE Goes Yellow!
As an homage to the 1972 Z1 Super Four motorcycle, Kawasaki has introduced the 2022 Z900RS SE model in an-all yellow avatar
In the world of motorcycles, several models have gained iconic stature. Out of many, the Kawasaki Z1 900, which was also called the ‘Super Four’ attained legacy. In the 70s, the motorcycle was powered by a four-stroke, traverse four-cylinder, DOHC engine that used to churn out a peak power of 82hp at 8,500rpm and a torque figure of 73.5Nm at 7,000rpm. These numbers were pretty impressive in that era and therefore, the model grew into one of the most loved motorcycles in the world.
After its Japanese owner discontinued the motorcycle, several iterations were launched by the company, which were equally good. Now, in 2021, Kawasaki has relaunched a 2022 variant of that Z900 which is called the Z900RS SE. As a tribute to the ‘Super Four’, Kawasaki has launched the Z900RS SE in the ‘Yellow Ball’ colour shade. For the unversed souls, the same colour shade was originally found on the 1972 Z900.
The new Z900RS SE will be available in the UK market for a limited time period. However, the motorcycle is unlikely to reach India or any other country. Powered by a 948cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four engine; the motorcycle makes a peak power output of 109hp at 8,500rpm and a maximum torque figure of 98.5Nm at 6,500rpm mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Although the Z900RS is available in several countries, the newly-launched SE variant differs slightly from the other iteration. Apart from the new colour shade, the SE variant is equipped with fully adjustable 41mm up-side-down front forks. On the rear, it is armed with a remote pre-load adjuster S46 monoshock unit from Ohlins. Not to forget, the brakes on the SE have been upgraded too.
The SE variant flaunts a 300mm disc with M4.32 radial monoblocs sourced from Brembo. The new braking and suspension units have made the SE a better Z900RS than the ordinary Z900RS found in different markets. Moving on to the rest of the hardware on the motorcycle, the SE boasts of an assist and slipper clutch, ABS, radial-pump front brake master cylinder, KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and more.
Last but not least, the company has not disclosed the price of the SE. However, the ordinary iteration of Z900RS is accessible in India at INR 15.30 lakh ex-showroom.
