Life of a Digital Nomad

If you search digital nomad over YouTube, you will come across many videos that will make you think to quit a 9-5 full-time job and live life nomad style. It’s like a dream. But who exactly is a Digital Nomad? Digital nomads are people who live a nomadic lifestyle and are location-independent. Digital Nomads prefer to work remotely; they use technology to perform their jobs. Advancement in technologies, cheap internet access and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) has made it much easier than it was.

But how to become a Digital Nomad?

The first thing to start with will be defining your passion as it will help you create a clear vision. It allows you to figure out the right type of work because once you leave your full-time job to work remotely for something you do not care about is unlikely. This will consume your time and take away your energy and eventually, you will return to where it all started. Choosing the right type of job will help you survive this life in a better manner.

The next step is to understand the type of freedom that you will receive once you become a digital nomad.

Freedom of Time- You will be able to decide the number of hours you wish to devote to your work. Whether you wish to take a long weekend or work for more hours will be dependent on you.

Freedom of Place- Being a remote worker, you are free to choose your location where you would like to sit down and finish your work.

Freedom of Finance- Although, you might not receive the same package as a full-time worker, you will have a fund to visit any location or choose any lifestyle.

It is important to have a clear understanding before selecting a life ahead. Some certain pros and cons should be evaluated:

Pros:

You no longer need to trade your time for money.

You get to travel a lot and also meet new people with different personalities and culture.

You will be free from the traditional workspace and office politics.

Personal Growth and Self-development.

Cons:

Time zones may differ.

Adjusting to a new lifestyle.

Not all places you visit provide you with good internet connectivity.

A constant feeling to work.

Be it a traditional lifestyle or a nomad style, you will always find that grass is greener on the other side. If you are tired of the monotonous, take a step towards a new life and explore it a bit!
