We are having attics and stores full of old junk which we often ignore and want to get rid of. Well, sometimes you might be sitting on a hidden treasure, a priceless painting or a family heirloom worth a million buck. Here are a few instances where people stumbled upon treasure trove by pure luck.

  1. Baseball card
Bernice Calego found a very old baseball card while cleaning out the junk in the house. Being a smart lady, she didn’t throw it away, rather decided to make some money out of it. She put it up on eBay for 10 dollars. It was then she came to know that it could be much more than 10 dollars. After getting it valued by the National Association of securities dealer, she came to know that it was an original photo of America’s first baseball team. She sold the card for whopping 75,000 dollars.
  1. One ring to rule them all
A lady fond of junk jewellery brought a ring worth 13 dollars near Middlesex hospital, London in the 80s. She loved the ring so much that she wore it for 30 years. At last, in the year 2017, she came to know that her supposed junk ring was a 26-carat diamond worth a staggering 80,000 dollars.
  1. A priceless painting
A woman in France was about to sell her house, before selling she wanted to get her belonging appraised. While appraising, auctioneer took a keen interest in an old painting above her stove in the kitchen. On appraisal, the painting turned out to a priceless 13th-century masterpiece by Cimabue called “Christ Mocked”. The painting was later auctioned for 26.8 million dollars!
  1. A penny, worth millions
When Robert Lawrence found his father’s lunchbox full of coins. In those coins, he found one penny from the year 1974 valued at 300 dollars. Sounds ordinary? Wait for it. Later, he came to know that only ten such coins were issued and rest were lost. So, the penny was worth two million dollars!
  1. An antique Persian Rug
Here is your chance to strike gold. Persian Rugs are known for their elegance and fineness. If you are in possession of Persian Rug that is 100 years old, then you have hit gold. A 100-year-old hand-woven antique Persian rug is being priced up to a million dollars.
