Lowest all-out totals for Indian despite ton

India have been bowled out for under 200 in an innings in test cricket despite a century from one of their batters only once.

198 v SA Cape Town 2021/22 (R Pant 100*) The series was on the line as both South Africa and India went into the third and the last test of the series on the India tour of South Africa in 2021/22.

The test match was played in Cape Town and India did a decent job, making 223 in the first innings on the back of a solid half century from captain Virat Kohli who was returning after a back spasm.

Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen picked up four and three wickets respectively for South Africa. South Africa were bowled out for 210 but India collapsed in their second innings as well despite a brilliant century from Rishabh Pant, which was counter attacking in nature as always.

Had Pant not fired, India were under danger of being dismissed below 150 which would have been a disaster. By scoring a brilliant century, Pant at least gave the Indian bowlers a chance to pull the match back in India's favour.

However, a brilliant 82 from Keegan Petersen sealed the deal for the home side.

India were bowled out for just 198, two short of 200. They ended up losing the match by 7 wickets and the series by 2-1.

208 v NZ Wellington 1998/99 (M Azharuddin 103*) Mohammad Azharuddin was brilliant for India, making an unbeaten 130 on the tour of New Zealand in 1998/99. However, he got absolutely no support from any other batter as India were bowled for only 208 in Wellington.

215 v SA Port Elizabeth 1992/93 (Kapil Dev 129) Despite a brilliant century from Kapil Dev, India collapsed for 215 against South Africa at Port Elizabeth in 1992/93 and ended up losing the match.

219 v Eng Edgbaston 1996 (S Tendulkar 122) Even the master blaster could not help India out this time as he was left searching for more support from fellow batters during his 122 against England at Edgbaston in 1996.

India were bowled out for just 219 and ended up losing the match quite badly.
