Most ducks in IPL

Five players have managed exactly 13 ducks in the IPL and share the record.

Parthiv Patel

Now that Parthiv Patel has decided to retire from all forms of cricket, one thing is for sure, he won’t be adding any more blobs to his tally of 13 in the IPL, which is the record for the joint highest number of ducks scored by any batsman.

Patel featured in all the editions of the IPL from 2008 till 2019 and represented a number of franchises. He went from Chennai Super Kings to Deccan Chargers to Kochi Tuskers Kerala to Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad as well.

From 139 matches, he made 2848 runs in the IPL at an average of 22.60 and a strike rate of 120.78, scoring 13 half centuries and picking up 13 ducks along the way.

Harbhajan Singh

Another Indian International who is probably towards the end of his IPL career is Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan too has been a consistent part of the IPL since its inception, having begun his journey at Mumbai Indians and then moved to Chennai Super Kings before finally being roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders.

Harbhajan has scored 833 runs from 163 IPL matches at an average of 15.71 and a strike rate of 137.9. Known more for his bowling than batting, to state the obvious, Harbhajan has also scored one half century in the league with the best of 64 but has pocket 13 ducks at the same time.

AjinkyaRahane

AjinkyaRahane has been roped in by Delhi Capitals after being part of Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiant. He has made 3941 runs from 151 IPL matches at an average of 31.52 and a strike rate of 121.33.

Rahane has struck two centuries and 28 half centuries in the competition with the best of 105 not out but has also been dismissed for zero on 13 occasions.

Ambati Rayudu

Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu had done quite well for Mumbai Indians before switching franchises. He has scored 3723 runs from 165 matches in the IPL at an average of 29.08 and a strike rate of 126.50 with one century and 19 half centuries. He has been dismissed for a duck on 13 occasions.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is the name which stands out in the list. The batsman has been dismissed for zero on 13 occasions despite scoring 5431 runs from 205 matches at an average 31.57 and a strike rate of 130.61.
