Mural art or what is commonly known as street art has become a global phenomenon in recent years. Its history could be traced back to possibly the 1970s, at a time when high school kids started scribbling their signature tags on buildings, using spray paint as well as markers to dabble on cars and anything they would find around.  However, now when we speak of mural or street art, the genre has acquired the status of museum exposure and even corporate sponsorships. BLU

BLU is a talented Italian street mural artist whose work can be spotted in different parts of the country as well as across the globe. BLU’s art has decorated the walls and streets of Italy since the later half of the 1990s. BLU is mostly known for his art around the streets of Rome. Although the artist has been known to have used spray paint as a medium in the past, his recent choice of medium are rollers and brushes on walls. The main focus of his work is on the narrow mindedness of the society and the selfish values that govern human lives largely. One of his famous works is titled, “Capita” which translates in English as “it happens” while also playing on the word, “capitalism”.

Fintan Magee

Fintan Magee is an Australian mural artist whose artwork is an encompassing commentary on the present social issues. He uses his art to start a discussion on every little social issue starting from forced migration to global warming. Magee’s art involves murals created on large scale canvasses combining realistic and graphic abstract designs. Usually, most of his works of art could be spotted in Sydney, although his murals are all across the world from Jordan to Finland.

Rone

Rone, also known as Tyrone Wright, is a renowned street mural artist known worldwide for his remarkable artistic images of the faces of women. Born in Geelong, Rone is a Melbourne based artist who is considered to have placed the city on the world map of street art. Rone’s early works are mostly done by screen printing and stenciling but in recent years, he has switched his process into working freehand.
