Most sixes against particular bowler in ODI innings

Only Fakhar Zaman and Eoin Morgan have hit six or more sixes against a particular bowler in an ODI innings. In a match between England and Afghanistan in the 2019 World Cup, Eoin Morgan was in red hot form. He clubbed 148 runs off just 71 balls with the help of 4 fours and 17 sixes.

Of his 17 sixes, 7 came against Afghanistan's bowling linchpin Rashid Khan, who ended up conceding 110 runs from 9 overs at an economy rate of 12.20. Some way to make a statement, isn't it?

It is goosebumps-inducing even to consider that there was a gap of 13 between the number of fours and sixes of a batsman. For all their life, cricket fans have been seeing this gap the other way around, but such is the intensity of modern day limited overs cricket that anything is possible.

It is Eoin Morgan who led the crusade of England's attacking brand of cricket. After the team had a very poor outing at the 2015 ODI World Cup, the England team management decided to go for an overhaul with the likes of Alastair Cook and Ian Bell done away with.

England started playing a totally different brand of cricket with Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow with the bat and Mark Wood, Jofra Archer and Liam Plunkett with the ball, looking to attack at all times.

Morgan could not have given a better example of the attacking brand of England cricket than strike 17 sixes in a single ODI knock to amp up the England total by at least 100 runs as they ended up scoring 397/6 from their 50 overs.

Afghanistan could only manage 247 from their 50 overs as England won the match by 150 runs, all thanks to Morgan's six hitting.

Fakhar Zaman also recently showcased some sensational hitting in the second ODI between South Africa and Pakistan at the Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg on April 4, 2021.

While chasing 342, Zaman waged a lone battle, smacking 193 off just 155 balls at a strike rate of 124.52. The Pakistan opener smashed 18 fours and 10 sixes in his knock.

He was particularly severe on left arm spinner TabraizShamsi who ended up conceding 60 runs from his 7 overs at an economy rate of 8.60. Out of these 60, 36 came off Zaman's willow as he wielded 6 sixes against the bowler.
