Most tail-ender wickets among active bowlers
England pacer James Anderson has dismissed the most tail-enders (No. 9 to 11) in tests among active bowlers. 118 - Anderson (19.16% career wickets) James Anderson has played more than 160 test matches which are sensational figures for any player, let alone a pace bowler. He has picked up more than 600 wickets at an average of just over 25 and an economy rate of 2.83. Anderson has 27 4-wicket hauls and 30 5-wicket hauls to his name and has been a great servant of England cricket.
He became the first pace bowler to reach 600 test wickets recently. 118 of those have come against batsmen from number 9 to number 11. Anderson does not seem to be slowing down and wants to stretch his career for as long as possible.
"I absolutely love playing Test cricket. There is no better feeling than putting the boots on, going out there and doing what I love doing. There has been hard work involved in developing those skills so I can go out there and bowl the way I do. I still get satisfaction from putting a hard shift in, putting 25 overs in a day. I still enjoy putting the yards in the nets, making those tweaks with my technique to make sure I am in good shape going into Test matches. I still enjoy the stuff in the gym. I think that’s why I keep going."
“I have struggled a little bit for rhythm during the summer but I have felt great this week, as good as I have done for a number of years. Annoyingly it looks like we haven’t got another Test for months but hopefully I can keep ticking over and be fit enough to go whenever that next Test is.”
107 - Ashwin (26.16%) Ravichandran Ashwin is another bowler who is deadly against tail enders. Even the top order batsmen find it hard to adjust to the variations of pace and trajectory of Ravichandran Ashwin. One can only imagine the plight of the tailenders.
Ashwin also possesses the carrom ball which tail enders find very difficult to tackle. As a result, more than 25% of his wickets have come against batsmen from number 9 to number 11.
95 - Broad (18.38%), 92 - Lyon (23.06%), 59 - Boult (21.00%), 56 - Southee (18.48%), 56 - Starc (21.96%), 55 - Ishant (18.15%) and 50 - Yasir (21.28%) are the other bowlers part of the list.
