MotoGP Calendar 2021: Dates and Venues

Given the strict travel restrictions because of the ongoing pandemic, the Australian and American GPs have been postponed to the last quarter of 2021

A few weeks from now, the MotoGP season 2021 is scheduled to begin on the 28th of March as per a recent calendar distributed by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), International Road-Racing Teams' Association (IRTA) and Dorna Sports. As per the calendar, the regulatory bodies have made several changes to ensure that the event is hosted without any hiccups amidst these perilous times. The season will kick-off with the Qatar Grand Prix on 28th March, followed by a second race at the Grand Prix of Doha from 2nd to 4th April. Both the races will be held at the famous Losail International Circuit. From Qatar, the teams and racers are scheduled to reach Portugal which will hold the third race on the 18th of April at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.

From Portugal, the event is to reach Spain and the racers are scheduled to race at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto on 2nd May. Next, the teams hit the famous Le Mans race track in France on the 16th of May. From France, the event is scheduled to fly to Italy where the racers will take on each other at the Mugello on 30th May. After the Italy episode, the teams and racers are scheduled to head back to Spain’s Catalunya where the race is to be held on the 6th of June. After a break of two weeks, Germany is the next country where the race is to be held on the 20th of Jun at the Sachsenring track.

The TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands will host the event on the 27th of June and Finland’s KymiRing will be the host on the 11th of July. Austria’s Red Bull Spring has been chosen for the next race on the 15th of August while the Silverstone Circuit of Great Britain will prepare itself for the race of 29th August. On the 12th of September, the event will once again get back to Spain and race at the MotorLand Aragon. On the 19th of September, a second trip to Italy is planned where the races will fly through the Misano World Circuit on September 19.

The remaining races will be held in Japan (3rd October), Thailand (10th October), Australia (24th Oct), Malaysia (31st Oct) and Valencia, Spain (14th November). The Argentinian and the American GPs have been postponed whereas the Mandalika racing circuit of Indonesia has been selected as a reserve track.
