Phiona lives in Katwe, a slum in Kampala, Uganda, where life is a constant struggle for the 10-year-old. Growing up in the slum, her life changes one day completely when she stumbles upon the game of Chess and learns to play it. she then goes on to become a Woman Candidate Master after her victories at World Chess Olympiads.
