She started off as a teen star but soon took to diverse genres

Actress Alicia Silverstone made her acting debut with the 1993 erotic thriller The Crush that earned her the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, further fueling her fame. By the age of 16, Silverstone was worshipped as a teen idol after her appearance in Aerosmith's Cryin music video. From there on, Silverstone went to star in various teen comedy and superhero films in the late 1990s. Here is a list of a few Alicia Silverstone films that you must watch.

Beauty Shop

This 2005 comedy film by director Bille Woodruff is a spin-off of the Barbershop film franchise. The film stars Queen Latifah, Andie MacDowell, and Djimon Hounsou, besides Alicia Silverstone. The story of the film revolves around Gina, played by Latifah, who was first introduced in the 2004 film Barbershop 2: Back in Business. It begins with Gina, who moves cities for her daughter's musical career and is an accomplished hairstylist after an argument with her boss, who sets out to open her own salon.

Butter

This 2011 comedy film by director Jim Field Smith stars Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, Rob Corddry, Olivia Wilde, and Hugh Jackman, besides Alicia Silverstone. Set in and around Iowa, it starts with a 10-year-old African American foster child named Destiny, who is placed with white parents Ethan, played by Corddry and Jill Emmet, played Silverstone. The twist in the tale comes when Destiny attends the butter sculpture contest and unknowingly becomes a part of the contest.

Blast from the Past

This 1999 romantic comedy film by director Hugh Wilson stars Brendan Fraser, Christopher Walken, and Dave Foley, besides Alicia Silverstone. The story of the film follows 35-year old Adam Webber, played by Brendan Fraser, who has spent his entire life living in a fallout shelter with his parents. One day when Adam eventually ventures out of his shelter to get some supplies and loses his way back home, he stops by to sell something at a hobby shop. It is here that Adam meets Eve Rustikov, played by Alicia Silverstone, who saves Adam from being mugged by the shop owner.

Silverstone is also a recipient of a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress for her television series Miss Match and has won two 1994 MTV Movie Awards. The 45-year-old actress also turned author with two cookbooks, The Kind Diet and The Kind Mama.
