An actor, comedian, singer, and musician, Ed Helms began his comedy and acting career as a writer and performer with New York City sketch comedy bands. While he also kept dabbling in improv, Helms also worked simultaneously as a trainee film editor. However, it was with the portrayal of Andy Bernard in the American version of the British mockumentary The Office that Helms found success. However, his big-screen success came with the portrayal of Stuart Price in The Hangover trilogy.

He has provided the voice of The Once-ler in Illumination’s The Lorax, the titular character in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, and voices Neil the Angel, a character on Cartoon Network's Weighty Decisions series. This 2018 biographical comedy-drama film is based on Josh Karp's book of the same name. The film stars Will Forte, and as per the story, he portrays the role of comedy writer Douglas Kenney. Ed Helms is seen essaying the role of Tom Snyder, American television personality and news anchor. The story of the film begins with Douglas Kenney and his classmate Henry Beard celebrating the release of their book, Bored of the Rings.

They Came Together

This 2014 satirical romantic comedy film is a parody of romantic comedies infused with Showalter and director David Wain's absurd approach. The story of the film revolves around couple Joel and Molly, who have dinner with an unhappy couple, Kyle and Karen. This leads to them recounting how they first began dating. Ed Helms is seen portraying the role of Eggbert Flaps, a banker.

Jeff, Who Lives At Home

This 2011 comedy-drama film is written and directed by Jay, and Mark Duplass stars Jason Segel and Ed Helms. The story revolves around Jeff, played by Segel, who is a 30-year-old unemployed stoner living in his mother's basement. He finally finds some inspiration in the film Signs.
