From being the Cinderalla to dramatic characters, she is a gem

Australian actress, filmmaker, and photographer Mia Wasikowska made her acting screen debut with the 2004 Australian television drama film All Saints. Soon her skills were known in the industry and followed her feature film Suburban Mayhem in 2006. And through her HBO television series In Treatment, Mia Wasikowska came to be recognised widely. Since then there has been no looking back for the 33-year-old actress. Here are some must-watch Mia Wasikowska movies.

Suburban Mayhem

This 2006 Australian film is directed by Paul Goldman and features an ensemble cast of Emily Barclay, Michael Dorman, Robert Morgan, and Genevieve Lemon, besides Mia Wasikowska. The film is loosely based on a series of notorious murders by Mark Valera, who killed Frank Arkell and David O'Hearn, among others. The plot of the film revolves around Katrina, played by Emily Barclay, who is a 19-year-old single mother planning to get away with murder. Living in a world of petty crime, fast cars, and manicures, Emily is a master manipulator of men. She is such that nothing will stop her from getting what she wants, even a murder.

I Love Sarah Jane

This 2008 Australian zombie horror short film revolves around a 13-year-old boy, Jimbo, played by Brad Ashby. As a teenager, all he can think of is only one girl —Sarah Jane played by Mia Wasikowska. Such is his love or attraction towards her, as you may say, that no matter what comes in his way, be it the bullies, violence, or zombies, nothing will stop him from finding a way into her world.

The Kids Are All Right

This 2010 comedy-drama film by director Lisa Cholodenko was one of the first movies to bring to screen a same-sex couple raising two teenagers. The plot of the film revolves around Nicole 'Nic', played by Annette Bening, and Jules Allgood, played by Julianne Moore. The two in love are of same sex, married, and live in Los Angeles. While Nic is an obstetrician, Jules is a housewife starting a landscape design business. Each has given birth to a child using the same sperm donor. But now after years, their 16-year-old son Laser, played by Josh Hutcherson, is on the quest to find his biological father. He asks for his 18-year-old sister Joni, played by Mia Wasikowska, to help.
