Nighttime skincare routine to push back the signs of ageing

This 4-step nighttime skincare routine will do wonders for your skin.

When you come back after a long day, you need the feel to unwind yourself and relax. Similarly, your skin too needs to get rid of toxic chemicals applied on your face by makeup and other products and feel pampered. You might not know that our skin cells regenerate in the evening, so that’s the perfect time to focus on restoring it. Hence, having a nighttime skincare routine is a must for everyone who wants to rejuvenate their skin apart from pushing back the signs of ageing.

So here we are to tell you a 4-step nighttime skin routine that will do wonders for your skin. You just need to switch the products as per your skin type:

Step 1: Cleanse

Never ever forget to have a properly cleansed face once you wrap up your day. While cleansing is often overlooked, it is the most important step as removing all the excess dirt and sebum from our face is vital. Also, make sure to double cleanse. First use an oil cleanser to get rid of base makeup products like BB cream, foundation, or concealer. It is a gentle way to melt away the makeup. Then follow it up with a water-based cleanser, which is gentle, shouldn’t irritate your eyes or make it dry. The cleanser can be in any form, be it gel, foam, or milk form. Once you do this, you are good to go.

Step 2: Treat

Apply a serum right after cleansing. For the unversed, a serum is a product with a concentrated amount of focused ingredients for different concerns. Don’t ever follow the hype but be mindful of your skin type and its concern. You can try some of these out after doing a patch test:

BHA (salicylic acid) and AHA (lactic acid, glycolic acid, mandelic acid) for acne

Vitamin C, niacinamide, licorice extract, alpha arbutin for Hyperpigmentation

Retinol and peptide for anti-ageing

Step 3: Hydrate

Use a toner for that additional boost of hydration as the water-like product is often packed with antioxidants or humectants, which can make it refreshing. Use a generous amount of it on the skin and wait until it is fully absorbed.

Step 4: Moisturise

Finally, follow the step of moisturising, which will help in locking in all the goodness that you’ve just put on your skin. Apart from making it hydrating, it will make your skin feel plump as well. Use a moisturiser with a light texture which has no greasy texture as it can clog your pores and cause a breakout.
