Formula One was established in 1950 and therefore, the age-old motorsport has no dearth of ancient racing tracks. Back in the day, technology was far from advanced as it is in the present-day world. Irrespective of that, circuit designers and engineers made marvellous high-paced racing tracks in various parts of the world. Therefore, in this article, we have listed some of those old ancient F1 racing tracks.

Paul Ricard, built-in 1969

In the country of France, the Paul Ricard race track was built in 1969, but it was officially unveiled in 1971. Over the years, Paul Ricard has held numerous races, but back in the day, it was a dangerous track and safety was not on point. In 1986, during a car test, driver Elio de Angelis was killed because of which, the track was shortened to a great extent.

Brands Hatch, UK

The Brands Hatch was originally a dirt track that was built in 1920. However, in 1950, it was changed into a tarmac-based track. The famous F1 circuit held the first F1 race in 1964 and since then, it has shared the British Grand Prix with the legendary Silverstone circuit. Apart from F1 races, it also held several European Grand Prix.

Asia’s finest Suzuka Circuit

One of the finest racing tracks in Asia, the Suzuka Circuit in Japan, was originally built as a test track for Honda in 1962. However, in 1987, it was made an F1 track officially, and that was the same year when the track held the first F1 race. The track holds great value among F1 fans becausethe epic rivalry of Senna-Prost brewed around the Suzuka.

Zandvoort, drivers refused to race there

Zandvoort is one of the fastest tracks in the world of Formula One, and it is also one of the dangerous tracks in the world of motorsports. First hosted the Dutch Grand Prix in 1952, in 1972, several racers refused to run around the Zandvoort circuit because of safety issues. Therefore, modifications were made quickly and since then, Zandvoort has hosted many races including the 2021 Dutch GP.

Last but not the least, Silverstone

In 1950, Silverstone hosted the first Formula One race and, therefore, it is one of the oldest F1 tracks in the world. Originally an airbase for the British Royal Airforce, the track was used in World War II. After the war, the base was changed into a racetrack.
