Known by other names such as Meridione or Mezzogiorno, Southern Italy is a macroregion comprising the southern half of the Italian states. This part of Italy is home to the historical and cultural history of the country as it was once ruled by various kingdoms. Surrounded by snow-capped hills, Southern Italy gives you a moderate climate to roman around the soak in all that the cities have to offer. Right from the historical structures to the cuisines that have been far unknown, there is something for everybody.

Sorrento

Just an hour’s drive away from Naples is this seaside town. The town perched on the Sorrentine Peninsula leaves the travelers with abundant to explore. Right from water activities such as fishing, diving, and cruising to outdoor activities such as hiking trails crisscrossing the peninsula, Sorrento has a lot to offer. Go visit the nearby Capri Island, Blue Grotto, Pompeii and end the day with Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square. And if you are in food to let loose, try the Sorrento special cocktails.

Paestum

Situated in the Province of Salerno, in Campania, Italy, in today’s time Paestum remains are the three large temples in the Archaic version of the Greek Doric order. These temples date from about 550 to 450 BC and are typical in design of their period comprising massive colonnades with pronounced widening as they go down, and very wide capitals resembling upturned mushrooms. The best time to visit Paestum is during the day but it is worth a night's stay for the local food it has to offer.

Alberobello

This is one of the best attractive tourist attractions. This town is to date known as the best example of Trullo architecture as the homes constructed here, called the Trulli homes, are known for their Apulian dry stone hut with a conical roof made without mortar. These are dry-stone buildings and are made entirely from local limestone. Interesting fact, none of the limestones is older than the 14th century. The whole Alberobello district comprises trulli concentrations. Well, travelers can also get a chance to stay in one of these trullo homes, drink in trullo bars and shop in trullo shops.
