Protein based diet plan for Indians

When we talk about a protein rich diet plan, the first thing comes into our mind is a bowl of chicken kabab, not a bowl of healthy chicken soup and this is the habit we need to change if we want to follow a proper diet plan. While carbs are the reason for unsaturated fat in your body, a protein rich diet has the potential to eliminate the stored fats from your body. Now you must be wondering, what is a protein-based diet plan?

According to Anupama Menon, a well- known nutritionist and food coach, A diet that supplies anywhere above 50 percent protein on a vegetarian diet and above 60 percent on a non-vegetarian diet, is classified as a high protein diet”. There are numerous sources of protein available in the Indian kitchen, which include meats, chicken, fish, eggs, yoghurt, cheese, legumes, dals, sprouts and pulses.

How protein works in the process of weight loss

Carbohydrates that you consume daily have the ability to spike your sugar level, making you more susceptible to weight gain. This is the time you need a protein- based diet plan as it hardly allows your sugar levels to increase and also has a super low Glycemic index. As your body doesn’t get carbs, it starts burning the stored fats, as a result you start losing your unwanted weight. It also fills your stomach very well so that you don’t feel hungry all the time.

Now the question is what should be the diet chart we should follow on a daily basis. Well, here is the answer-

Breakfast

For breakfast we can consume a medium bowl of Oats or a dal Dosa. One can also fill the stomach with a glass of almond smoothie.

Mid- morning snack

We should not have very heavy food in the mid- morning snack. One egg white or a glass of buttermilk would be enough.

Lunch

For lunch we can have some cooked meat like chicken or fish, or A cheese mushroom omelette made of one/two eggs, or One small bowl of vegetable khichdi.

Evening snack

One small bowl of yogurt with two oats biscuits is what you can have as an evening snack.

Dinner

A bowl of chicken soup or some lightly cooked chicken or mutton with one cup of rice is enough for dinner.

So, start your protein diet from today and feel the change within you.
