In the 2021 squad of Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, there is no paucity of goalkeepers

If you are a football fan who watches almost every football game, allow us to ask you a simple question: How many goalkeepers are needed in a team? Two? Maybe three? Not over four, right? Well, you are wrong and so are we because, in the 2021 squad of Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, there is no paucity of goalkeepers. This year, the famous rich club has an arsenal of nine goalkeepers. Who are they? Let’s have a look.

Gianluigi Donnarumma- PSG’s newest addition is Donnarumma who recently won the Euro Cup with Italy. The 22-year-old is considered the next glorious thing in the world of goalkeeping. Not to forget, he is only the second goalkeeper ever in Euro Cup’s history to win the best player of the tournament award after Denmark’s Peter Schmeichel.

KeylorNavas- The Costa Rican goalkeeper requires no introduction because, at Real Madrid, he was a hero who won three consecutive UEFA Champions League trophies and one La Liga title. Navas is an integral part of PSG but his future seems bleak after the signing of Donnarumma.

Alphonse Areola- Before Navas and Donnarumma, PSG’s man between the nets was Areola. A product of the PSG youth academy, Areola was considered the next significant thing. However, he could not maintain his form and with the arrival of Navas, he lost his starting position. In the 19/20 season, Areola was loaned to Real Madrid and in 20/21, he played as a loanee for Fulham.

Garissone Innocent- Innocent became a Parisian in 2018 and since then, the player has mostly played as the fourth goalkeeper of the team after Navas, Rico, and Bulka. In four years, the player has appeared only four times for PSG and with less playing time; he was loaned to Caen and Caen B. With so many goalkeepers in the team, Innocent is unlikely to become the first goalie of PSG.

Sergio Rico- Joining PSG has proved to be a massive blunder for Rico. A great goalie at Sevilla who won the Europa League twice, Rico did not get enough playing time in PSG’s jersey. In 2020, he played only 10 games. With Donnarumma and Navas in the squad, Rico is likely to warm the bench for ages.

Rest four goalies- The rest of the four goalkeepers who should look for a new club (in our opinion) are Marcin Bulka, Denis Franchi, Lucas Lavallee and Alexandre Letellier.
