Quirky female characters who stole our hearts
These ladies are the Paris of people.
Oxford language describes quirky as someone with peculiar and unexpected traits. Now, there’s funny and there’s quirky funny. They stand out of the crowd with their eclectic taste, their different take on things and being downright funny.
Here are the quirky female characters who stole our hearts.
- Gina Linetti – The sardonic civil administrator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is self-proclaimed “Paris of people” and rightly so. She is a rascal when she wants to be but can make an excellent flamethrower for bad people when needed. Whether she is describing God as “ethnically ambiguous or defeating a whole precinct of detectives in the Halloween bet, Gina is the level of human you can only hope to aspire.
- Leslie Knope- Parks and Recreation gave us Leslie Knope. Leslie is honest enough to admit that she can’t even inspire herself, but she is hands down the funniest, most quirky boss anyone can ask for. She has a penchant and tolerance for drama and Amy Poehler has brought the character to life.
- Phoebe Buffay- It’s hard to get anything past Phoebe. The eccentric friend in Friends had a hard childhood but she is the kindest, most loving person. She sings to the tune of her own heart, with lyrics that are sometimes weird but that don’t stop her from singing.
- Susie Myerson- The loud club manager in The Marvellous Mrs Maisel is fairy godmother-in -pants for Miriam. She spits truth in the most matter-of-fact tone and will go to any length to secure a gig for Miriam. Susie can turn every sentence funny and if blending-in means carrying a plunger, she will do it.
- Villianelle- The multi-lingual mercenary from Russia can turn from deadly to funny (sometimes those two overlap) in a matter of seconds. Her fashion choices are top-notch, her accent impeccable and has extreme survivor’s instincts. She is quirky enough to be sitting in Amsterdam and decline an Instagrammer saying Get a real life”.
- Liz Lemon- An intriguing woman, Liz Lemon is a writer for a comedy show but she prefers bar suitors to send her mozzarella stick instead of a cocktail. Oreos after midnight is okay with Liz, lettuce in the hair is so her thing and getting a makeover to plot revenge on an ex is her thing as well. Liz manages to settle co-workers’ egos, Liz is hella quirky.
